Consider Carefully what you hear, Matthew 4:24

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

Listening to God is in obedience to Gods covenant promises to have us BE STILL and Know That I am God and Matthew 11:15 says those who have ears hear. Prayer of a variety of types is given in Scripture. 1 Timothy 2:1 says First of all then I urge you that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all people. Ephesians 6:18 reminds us to pray at all times in the Spirit with all prayer and supplication.

When I was 42 years old I went back to church and heard a lady say in a women’s group I was in that God spoke to her and said. I was like, O my gosh you hear God speak to you. Yes she said and you can too. I did not know the Bible at all at that time of my life and other ladies helped me with how to grow to know God more.

It took me six months of time with God each morning and reading Scriptures to hear God speak to me for the first time. I wrote about it in my book LEAN IN CLOSER TO GOD BECAUSE YOU CAN

I spoke to a couple of local pastor last month about listening prayer. One Pastor told me that when he as 8 and 14 he had heard God speak to him and he was about 60. Another pastor told me that God says alot of things to alot of people not one thing. I was asking about a group to listen to God for our city together. To create a prayer tapestry from heaven over time while listening together. This kind of prayer is about How to Move Heaven and Earth by slowing down together. Becoming intentional to wait on God and get the cares of the world or weeds as I would call it out of our soul. Detox is needed to get heavens instructions for a city.

Jesus was not happy with some leaders one day when he told them you don’t know the signs and the times. Matthew 16:3 “when its evening you say it will be fair weather for the sky is red and in the morning it will be foul weather for the sky is red and threatening Hypocrites. You know how to discern the face of the sky but you cannot discern the signs of the times. ”

Consider carefully what you hear is given to us by Matthew. I am in a group for prayer with church leaders for ten years and they pray what they call popcorn prayer. You just go around room with petitions, asks, thanks. Many people in the church are mainly familiar with petition and thanks prayers.

When you go to the doctor and lets say God our Father and Jesus and Holy Spirit are our Physician. The doctor says why are you here. Well I am not exactly sure, I think it might be this but it could be that. So you just say everything you know and hope you come upon the right answer.

WHAT IF THERE IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT RHYTHM to pray. It follow the truth of BE QUICK TO LISTEN AND SLOW TO SPEAK. If you have an ear and we have two of them, then how to pray in Intercessory prayer mode or listening prayer mode is to first go before God and praise Him and say, Lord I will wait upon you now to see what you might want to tell me or us about the issue at hand. You wait upon the Lord. Wait in still mode to let your spirit align with Gods spirit to be able to hear what it is the Spirit is saying. Kinda of like getting the Doctors orders !! Heavens prescription . Go in to the ICU and wait until you get exactly surgery needed… Because God says in John My Sheep Know My voice. So be it.

PAGA – is word in Bible for Intercession. Intercession is when you meet with God to listen and then speak. Its an opportune time kind of time. You ask God how should I pray. Jesus is the Intercessor High Priest. Holy Spirit interprets for us. Good book is Intercessory Prayer by Dutch Sheets.

You can do Intercessory prayer for yourself, your family, your church, your city, your county, your nation, the world.

Questions: What questions do you have about Intercessory Prayer or Listening Prayer ?

www.ColoradoPrays.org is a group started ten years ago to join our whole state together in prayer. To make a prayer canopy or tapestry 24 hours a day. I am the new County leader for Jefferson County and we are going to do prayer and a prayer retreat around helping people grow and mature in prayer and obedience to God.

We pray once a month now on first Wednesday at noon. We have a prayer focus with Scripture to start. We have a variety of intercession that goes on by our group which is now about seven people.

Denver Seminary Soul Care Department is going to Lead a half day prayer retreat on disciplines of silence, solitude, and Listening to God for us. We do not have exact date yet.

Have you gone to a prayer retreat that had alot of silence ?

LISTENING PRAYER IS PRACTICING GODS PRESENCE – Leanne Payne has book called Listening Prayer. Learning to hear Gods voice and keep a prayer journal. Page 125 shows us that the true pattern or model for listening prayer is Jesus with the Father. John 88:28-29 “I do nothing on my own but speak just what my Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him. Jesus modeled listening prayer. throughout his earthly ministry. Jesus learned to listen to the Father through obedience as a child. Jesus speaks to us through the Scriptures and we are in a John 17 divine union with God as we wait upon the Lord to hear. One doctrine issue in church is that people are taught you read scripture and repeat it but do not expect God to speak to you. God spoke from the beginning to the end of the Bible. Clearly My Sheep Know My Voice means what it says. Its a discipline to mature into. Of course it has to align with Gods Word.

Would you maybe Give God your steering wheel ?

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

A thought that can help us truly have a relationship with God is to ask Who Is In Charge of this world ? If your spirituality is composed of an energy force or higher power you have chosen to relate to something impersonal. As humans, we really can’t have a relationship with an impersonal deity. Some say well I know there’s something out there. What words describe your spirituality diety ?

When I was 42 years old I found out that there really was a God and that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit actually loved me. That God was wanting to spend time with me.  I was amazed at this truth.  The religion of my childhood was Catholic. There are many great people who are Catholic and many wonderful ways of being a Catholic. For me though, I did not understand the way you got to be free of condemation in that faith practice.  It felt like I had always one stack of bad stuff I did [sins] and another stack of good stuff I did.  I could not understand how this scale with my stuff on it could randomly tip one day to hell or heaven.  It seemed kind of cruel to me.

When I actually found out in my head and thats connected to my spirit and my soul, that God loved me it was a deal changer.  I gave Jesus my steering wheel.  I knew God was real and the Holy Spirit showed me that I was forgiven and very loved.  car steering wheel - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

I felt like my spirit got literally plugged into God. I felt light and loved. Its like we walk around like a spiritually dead person until we choose to fall in love with God and want to know all about what Gods like.  Life went from being a kind of cruel joke to a very big ahah… oh now I get it.  What Does It Mean to Be Born Again? We choose to say Yes to Gods invitation to live as Gods child and enjoy blessings and a living realtionship with God.  Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to earth to connect us with heaven now while we live in the earth.  Its a wild wonderful ride.

What do you think Gods personality is like ?  Is the God written about in the Bible nice, or scary, or random or ? Why would God tell us the first thing He wants is for us to Love the Lord Our God with all our heart, mind , soul and strenght ?  I guess you could say that Gods personality is about wanting us to be in love with God because God is very in love with us.  I highly recommend taking some time to read study and pray about what are you really like God.

Oh and God does not have a political party, or a color.  God is uncreated eternally always. Sit with God at night or sometime each day and just talk and then listen.  God speaks so eventurally if you exercise your muscle called your spirit you will see and know God is real.  The result of your relationship with God is that you will become more and more of who you really are. The stuff we put on ourself that is not really us will fall away.

2020 a YEAR of contagious Kindness

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

We are all learning that to go first in our brain to kindness is always the best pathway. So often we can remind ourselves, “Well maybe I do not really understand the bottom line motive of that person that thinks different than me.” Kindness overcomes judging. A fist in someones face does not accomplish anything. A fist in a face can mean you are more full of fear than wisdom or understanding.

2020 has been a year of many opportunities to be humble and become a better listener. God says be quick to listen and slow to speak. I am learning that why God said this about being quick to listen is because that is exactly the way God is. Gods personality is just like Be Quick to Listen and Slow to Speak. The God of heaven and earth is so patient and so kind and always has a hand stretched out to lift us up and care for us.

How have you learned in 2020 to be more kind, and listen more and love more ? Its a great time to move in closer to God because we can. Share with us your journey and where you place your faith this time of year please. Use our Facebook page to share.

Being Gods Signet Ring in 5779 -the year of 2018 and 2019

FacebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmailQuestion: “What does it mean that Zerubbabel was the LORD’s signet ring (Haggai 2:23)?”

Answer: In Haggai 2:23 we read, “‘On that day,’ declares the LORD Almighty, ‘I will take you, my servant Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will make you like my signet ring, for I have chosen you.’” What did God mean when He said Zerubbabel was His signet ring?

There are times and seasons for all things in heaven.  Ask the Lord, for specifics on your divine destiny this year to = bring heaven to earth – His visual and real rule and reign in your earth, your land, your reason to be breathing right now !

Image result for signet ring bible

Ancient kings used signet rings to designate authority, honor, or ownership. A signet contained an emblem unique to the king. Official documents were sealed with a dollop of soft wax impressed with the king’s signet, usually kept on a ring on his finger. Such a seal certified the document as genuine, much like a notary public’s stamp today. In 1 Kings 21:8, the evil Queen Jezebel took King Ahab’s signet ring and “wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal.” The ring’s stamp gave her letters the king’s authority. In Daniel 6:17, a signet ring was used to seal a stone covering a lions’ den: “A stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his lords, that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel.” A royal signet ring is also featured in Genesis 41:41-43 and Esther 8:8.

It is important to understand who Zerubbabel is. He is the governor of the rebuilt Jerusalem and is himself of royal blood, being a descendant of David and the grandson of Judah’s King Jehoiachin. Years earlier, Jehoiachin had lost his throne when he was deported to Babylon; in fact, God pictured Jehoiachin as a signet ring being removed from God’s finger (Jeremiah 22:24). Now, God calls Zerubbabel the “signet ring,” but this time it won’t be removed.Image result for signet ring bible

In Haggai’s prophecy, God is giving Zerubbabel encouragement and hope. The governor is “chosen” for a unique and noble purpose. As God’s signet ring, Zerubbabel is given a place of honor and authority. God is reinstating the Davidic line and renewing His covenant with David. Judah still has a future as they look forward to the coming Son of David, the Messiah, who would one day “overturn royal thrones and shatter the power of the foreign kingdoms” (Haggai 2:22).

Zerubbabel is also called “my servant.” This title was often a Messianic reference in the Old Testament (2 Samuel 3:181 Kings 11:34Isaiah 42:1-949:1-1350:4-1152:13-53:12Ezekiel 34:23-2437:24-25). The triad of servant, son, and signet ring creates a special combination of encouragement given to few in Scripture. Zerubbabel was an important leader involved in the reconstruction of the Jewish temple. As God’s “signet ring,” Zerubbabel becomes a picture of the future Messiah, Jesus Christ, who will establish His people in the Promised Land, construct an even grander temple (Zechariah 6:12-13), and lead the righteous in never-ending worship.Image result for signet ring bibleFacebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

The voice over the waters thunders

The voice of the LORD is on the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is on many waters.

The voice.–The invocation to the angels over, the storm bursts, and seven successive peals of thunder mark its course of fury and destruction. It is first heard rolling over the waters from the west (comp. 1Kings 18:44), unless the “waters” and “many waters,” as in Psalm 18:11-12, refer to the gathered masses of rain-cloud, when we might compare

“Then broke the thunder

Like a whole sea overhead.”

BROWNING: Pippa Passes.

The Hebrew kol (“voice”), used also of any loud sound (2Samuel 15:10, of the trumpet; Ezekiel 1:24, of water), is sometimes used (Genesis 4:10Isaiah 52:8) to call attention, like our “Hark !” So Ewald here. Others refer it to the thunder, as in Psalm 77:18; but it seems better to take it for the combined noise of the storm, thunder, wind, and rain, as in Shakespeare–

“The gods who keep this pudder o’er our heads.”

Verse 3. – The voice of the Lord is upon the waters. The description of God’s might in the thunderstorm now begins with one of the sudden transitions which David loves. “The voice of the Lord” – already identified with the thunder in Psalm 18:13 – is suddenly heard muttering in the height of heaven, “upon the waters;” i.e. the waters stored in the clouds that float on high in the air. The God of glory – the God set forth in vers. 1, 2 – thundereth. It is he himself, according to the psalmist, no minor agent. The Lord (Jehovah) is upon the many (or, great) waters (comp. Job 37:2-5 and Psalm 18:7-14).

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters,…. What follows concerning thunder, the voice of the Lord, gives so many reasons why he should have glory given him and be worshipped; the Heathens (y) paid their devotion to thunder and lightning: but this should be done to the author of them; which may be literally understood of thunder, and is the voice of the Lord; see Psalm 18:13; and which is commonly attended with large showers of rain, Jeremiah 10:13; and is very terrible upon the waters, and has its effect there, Psalm 104:7; and this is the rather mentioned, because that there is a God above, who is higher than the mighty, who are called upon to give glory to him, and because that thunder has been terrible to kings and great men of the earth; or this may be figuratively interpreted of the voice of Christ in the Gospel, which reaches to many nations and people, compared to waters, Revelation 17:15. The disciples had a commission to preach it to all nations, and the sound of their words went into all the world, Romans 10:18

the God of glory thundereth; this shows that thunder may be meant by the voice of the Lord, who is glorious in himself, and in all his works; and may be applied to the Gospel of Christ, who is the Lord of glory, and whose ministers, at least some of them, are sons of thunder; see 1 Corinthians 2:8;

the Lord is upon many waters; that is, his voice is, as before, which is thunder; and that this belongs to God, the Heathens were so sensible of, that they called their chief deity Jupiter Tonans (z).

3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.

4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

5 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

7 The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire

8 The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.

9 The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.

10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.

Psalm 29:3

“The voice of the Lord is upon the waters.” The thunder is not only poetically but instructively called “the voice of God,” since it peals from on high; it surpasses all other sounds, it inspires awe, it is entirely independent of man, and has been used on some occasions as the grand accompaniment of God’s speech to Adam’s sons. There is peculiar terror in a tempest at sea, when deep calleth unto deep, and the raging sea echoes to the angry sky. No sight more alarming than the flash of lightning around the mast of the ship; and no sound more calculated to inspire a reverent awe than the roar of the storm. The children of heaven have often enjoyed the tumult with humble joy peculiar to the saints, and even those who know not God have been forced into unwilling reverence while the storm has lasted. “The God of glory thundereth.” Thunder is in truth no mere electric phenomenon, but is caused by the interposition of God himself. Even the old heathen spake of Jupiter Tonans; but our modern wise men will have us believe in laws and forces, and anything or nothing so that they may be rid of God. Electricity of itself can do nothing; it must be called and sent upon its errand; and until the almighty Lord commissions it, its bolt of fire is inert and powerless. As well might a rock of granite, or a bar of iron fly in the midst of heaven, as the lightning go without being sent by the great First Cause. “The Lord is upon many waters.” Still the Psalmist’s ear hears no voice but that of Jehovah, resounding from the multitudinous and dark waters of the upper ocean of clouds, and echoing from the innumerable billows of the storm-tossed sea below. The waters above and beneath the firmament are astonished at the eternal voice. When the holy Spirit makes the divine promise to be heard above the many waters of our soul’s trouble, then is God as glorious in the spiritual world as in the universe of matter. Above us and beneath us all is the peace of God when he gives us quiet.

Psalm 29:4

“The voice of the Lord is powerful.” An irresistible power attends the lightning of which the thunder is the report. In an instant, when the Lord wills it, the force of electricity produces amazing results. A writer upon this subject, speaks of these results as including a light of the intensity of the sun in his strength, a heat capable of fusing the compactest metals, a force in a moment paralysing the muscles of the most powerful animals; a power suspending the all-pervading gravity of the earth, and an energy capable of decomposing and recomposing the closest affinities of the most intimate combinations. Well does Thompson speak of “the unconquerable lightning,” for it is the chief of the ways at God in physical forces, and none can measure its power.

As the voice of God in nature is so powerful, so is it in grace; the reader will do well to draw a parallel, and he will find much in the gospel, which may be illustrated by the thunder of the Lord in the tempest. His voice, whether in nature or revelation, shakes both earth and heaven; see that ye refuse not him that speaketh. If his voice be thus mighty, what must his hand be! beware lest ye provoke a blow. “The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.” The King of kings speaks like a king. As when a lion roareth, all the beasts of the forest are still, so is the earth hushed and mute while Jehovah thundereth marvellously.

“Tis listening fear and dumb amazement all.”

continued…

3. The voice of the Lord—audible exhibition of His power in the tempest, of which thunder is a specimen, but not the uniform or sole example.

the waters—the clouds or vapors (Ps 18:11; Jer 10:13).

29:1-11 Exhortation to give glory to God. – The mighty and honourable of the earth are especially bound to honour and worship him; but, alas, few attempt to worship him in the beauty of holiness. When we come before him as the Redeemer of sinners, in repentance faith, and love, he will accept our defective services, pardon the sin that cleaves to them, and approve of that measure of holiness which the Holy Spirit enables us to exercise. We have here the nature of religious worship; it is giving to the Lord the glory due to his name. We must be holy in all our religious services, devoted to God, and to his will and glory. There is a beauty in holiness, and that puts beauty upon all acts of worship. The psalmist here sets forth God’s dominion in the kingdom of nature. In the thunder, and lightning, and storm, we may see and hear his glory. Let our hearts be thereby filled with great, and high, and honourable thoughts of God, in the holy adoring of whom, the power of godliness so much consists. O Lord our God, thou art very great! The power of the lightning equals the terror of the thunder. The fear caused by these effects of the Divine power, should remind us of the mighty power of God, of man’s weakness, and of the defenceless and desperate condition of the wicked in the day of judgment. But the effects of the Divine word upon the souls of men, under the power of the Holy Spirit, are far greater than those of thunder storms in the nature world. Thereby the stoutest are made to tremble, the proudest are cast down, the secrets of the heart are brought to light, sinners are converted, the savage, sensual, and unclean, become harmless, gentle, and pure. If we have heard God’s voice, and have fled for refuge to the hope set before us, let us remember that children need not fear their Father’s voice, when he speaks in anger to his enemies. While those tremble who are without shelter, let those who abide in his appointed refuge bless him for their security, looking forward to the day of judgment without dismay, safe as Noah in the ark.
