Have a Block Party this Summer ? Why not !

We have all heard about as humans we should love our neighbors. For me that did not seem to work as an auto pilot event in my life.  I thought about it many times and hoped someone else would do it and I could just get to go and have some fun.

I just joined Next Door which is a huge website to get to know neighbors on line with some daily life events we might want to share or need help with something local. https://westlochwood.nextdoor.com

After many years of walking around my neighborhood to meet people I finally decided to be the leader of starting a block party Summer 2015.  I made a flier and asked three neighbors I knew if they would help tell others.  We had over 35 people come for the first ever block party in Lockwood neighborhood  in Lakewood CO.

We ate, told stories, had games and gathered for about three hours.  People were 85 to one years old.  They young couples with small children really enjoyed the older neighbors who were the first ones to buy these homes when built.  It is almost June so I will again initiate with our core group fliers to go out and pick a date .  We are lucky to have Hoida Park right in the middle of our blocks.  It is part of Foothills Parks.  You can call any park and find out rules and if you can reserve it or should.
